Ok, so this is my first post. This is all new to me so please bear with me as I enter a new phase in my life. First a little background. My name is Kermit Partain. I live in Prescott, Arkansas. Its a small town about 100 miles south of Little Rock. I just turned 36 yrs old and am kinda at a crossroads in life. I havent seemed truly happy in years and have decided to get off my ass and makes some changes. I currently work full time for the Arkansas National Guard. I have been in for a total of 8 yrs now. I have never been extremely athletic but I do manage to just get by. I'm not really happy about that! Being in the military is a physically demanding job and I need to being in better shape. Not just for my job , but for m life, and the lives of the fellow soldiers I may have to go to war with.
One day, while researching a book about Modern army combatives, I stumble across this program called Crossfit. Seems interesting enough. No bullshit type of workouts. I like the idea behind it. So I check it out. Soon enough I cant read enough on the boards about Crossfit. I feel obsessed to learn more. Then I wake up one day and realize that I have been "cheking out Crossfit" for almost 2 yrs. Not a single thing done to even attempt a workout.
God how lazy can someone be!! So I decide to dive in head first. I dont even look to see if there is water in the pool first lol
I have registered for my first cert! I will be attending the Basic Barbell cert in Lexington, KY on 14-15 March 09. I have also decided to register to attend the Level 1 cert in Ohio at Rogue Fitness exactly 1 week before my Barbell cert!
Holy shit what have I gotten myself into???? Im a lazy slug ( an unhappy slug bbut still a slug nonetheless) and I have just registered for not 1 but 2 Crossfit certifications. Well I guess there is no turning back now. Hopefully someone will read this and find it informative. Others may say thats just what happened to them. Still others may decide that they too needto make some changes. Whichever catagory you fall into, or even if its another that I havent mentioned, THANK YOU! Thank you for taking the time to stop by. To read about me. My life. My story. Stick around. You never know where this journey might take me, or you. If I get my life straightened out though one thing is for sure, It will be a long ride.
Again, thank you for stopping by and hope to hear your story as well.
Kermit

ReplyDeleteExcellent. I couldn't be anymore excited for you Kermit! Really shows what kind of personality you have, diving in head first into CrossFit! You're %*#$ed just like the rest of us!!!!
ReplyDeleteMan, K, this sounds very familiar. I was just like you. I "discovered" crossfit in late 2005 and dabbled in the workouts on and off until i deployed to Afghanistan in Feb 2007. Then I took the austere workouts that Crossfit developed for the Canadians and fell in head first. So I know what your talking about. I am renewing my commitment to CF and plan to get to a cert also. I am here for you brother!
ReplyDeleteAntonio, we need to talk sometime,I was stationed at Bragg back in '91-93' lol
